verview: Up for sale is this very neat woodblock print, "Rice Planting," which unsurprisingly depicts Japanese farmers planting rice in the fields. This print was produced by Eiichi Kotozuka. Kotozuka was born in Kyoto and was one of the major forces in the shin hanga movement. He, along with Tokuriki, Tobei and Tasaburo formed the Koryokusha publishing company in an effort to break free of the major publishing companies. I have not been able to pin down a specific date for this print, but I believe it dates to the 1950s. It is a very handsome print that would make an excellent addition once framed to any art collection.

Condition: The print is in very good condition. Moderate toning and very minor mat burn.

Measurements: Print measures approximately 16 inches high by 11.625 inches wide. c1950 Midcentury Japanese Woodblock Print - Eiichi Kotozukac1950 Midcentury Japanese Woodblock Print - Eiichi Kotozukac1950 Midcentury Japanese Woodblock Print - Eiichi Kotozukac1950 Midcentury Japanese Woodblock Print - Eiichi Kotozukac1950 Midcentury Japanese Woodblock Print - Eiichi Kotozukac1950 Midcentury Japanese Woodblock Print - Eiichi Kotozukac1950 Midcentury Japanese Woodblock Print - Eiichi Kotozuka
