About the Artist Dane Burr (1926 - 2013). Dane Burr was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1926. He was a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art. Throughout his life, Dane made his living with his art and was especially well-known for his lyrical clay sculpture with he sold to collectors worldwide. During the 1960s and 70s, he worked as an art instructor at Karamu House - known for multi-cultural theater and arts, as well as the Jewish Community Center and Supplementary Center in Cleveland. He exhibited his work at the prestigious May Shows. In 1995 Dane and his wife MaryEtta Burr opened Burr Studio in Waynesville, NC.
